Nitish Reddy bags big bucks in APL auction, sold for Rs 15.6L

Visakhapatnam: The auction of players for Andhra Premier League (APL) season three, structured by the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) on the lines of a highly popular limited over Indian Premier League (IPL) was conducted here on Thursday with promising player K Nitish Kumar Reddy bought for Rs15.6 lakh. In the new season, matches will be played at ACA-VDCA stadium in Visakhapatnam in addition to ACA stadium at Kadapa from June 30 to July 13, ACA secretary Gopinath Reddy said, at a press conference here.

ACA picked up several talented players as 'Rising Stars' at selections made at various levels to provide "an opportunity on a bigger platform to gali players" to showcase their talent under floodlights. He said the APL matches being played among men and women are being conducted regularly by ACA without any commercial motive.

Reddy said season three selections have been made one and half month in advance so as to provide good training to the players. Six teams are taking part in the events being organised with the support of BCCI viz. Uttarandhra Lions, Vizag Warriors, Rayalaseema Kings, Godavari Titans, Bezawada Tigers and Coastal Riders. He said in future, they have plans to host matches simultaneously at Mangalagiri, Kadapa and Visakhapatnam. During the selection of Rising Stars, a total of 1,000 players were screened.

The matches this time will be telecast on Star TV Telugu and Star National besides live-streaming on OTT platforms.
